Unmind's AI Coach (Nova) is a 24/7 digital wellbeing assistant designed to provide intelligent support to help users achieve their personal and professional goals.

Available in over 20 languages, Nova connects clients with appropriate wellbeing tools and tailored advice, empowering users through self-discovery, personal growth and proactive assistance that adapts to individual needs and challenges in real time. Nova also guides clients toward appropriate mental health support, resources and therapy & coaching - helping members find the right support at the right time.

Nova is not designed to offer clinical advice, make assessments or offer treatment. It is intended for general wellbeing support, not for clinical-level mental health conditions. It is powered by state-of-the-art foundation LLMs (large language models), enhanced with Unmind's content, scientific expertise and robust safety guardrails.

How can I recommend Nova to my clients?

Clients can access Nova directly through their Unmind account on the web or mobile app. On desktop, Nova appears on the homepage. On mobile, they can tap 'Chat to Nova' on the homepage. Simply let them know they can find Nova on their Unmind homepage (web or app), and they can start chatting with it from there.

We also recommend that you define Nova’s boundaries with your clients: Reinforce that Nova is an AI coach, not a clinician. It cannot manage clinical risk, diagnose, or provide clinical treatment.

Please note, not all of your clients will have access to Nova as part of their company’s package. To find out if your client has access to Nova, ask your client directly, or Contact Support before recommending Nova to a client.

Clients can continue to access Nova even after they've used all their therapy or coaching sessions. Nova access is separate from the therapy/coaching session allowance, so users can keep using Nova for ongoing support.

Safety and Crisis Management

Some clients have Nova without EAP or therapy/coaching services. Nova follows a safety-first principle: if the client indicates they are in an emergency situation, Nova shares local emergency services regardless of what package the client has. For non-emergency situations where the client doesn't have EAP or Therapy & Coaching access, Nova redirects to the internal resources page with local services or encourages the person to contact their GP. Nova’s specific routing is determined by the package of care the client has access to.

Nova uses the location information from the user's profile to provide appropriate emergency numbers for their region. This is a something we're continuously improving over time. Fallback safety options are always in place to ensure a level of relevant signposting is always available.

Are Nova's outputs checked by humans?

Yes, Unmind's conversational AI quality team reviews transcripts of conversations of which personal identifiable information has been removed to preserve anonymity. We conduct quality assurance reviews of selected conversations to maintain safety and quality standards and improve Nova's responses, but it's conducted in a way that protects user privacy.
