The importance of evidence-based approaches
It’s essential that all Unmind practitioners offer evidence-based approaches to the clients they see.
We expect all practitioners to:
- Be competent in evidence-based approaches to helping clients
- Work within this competency and limitations and seek supervision and/or consultation where required
- Be committed to delivering these approaches consistently and effectively
- Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in their field to ensure best practices
- Uphold ethical standards and prioritize the well-being and confidentiality of their clients
This is important because:
- There is proven effectiveness
- The client can trust you and your approach
- The ways of working are up-to-date
- You can offer personalized care
- You uphold excellence and ethical practices
Aligning with professional training and experience
As an Unmind practitioner, we encourage you to align your therapeutic approach with your professional training and experience. It's essential to ensure that the interventions you offer are evidence-based and follow best clinical practices to promote positive client outcomes. Offering treatments that lack evidence can lead to ineffective or even harmful results.

Adhering to legal and ethical guidelines
Practitioners should stay informed about, and adhere to, relevant legal and ethical guidelines for therapy or coaching. This includes keeping abreast of updates in regulations and incorporating them into your practice to ensure compliance and the highest standard of care.
Practitioners should refrain from using clients for training purposes, case studies or research without explicit and informed consent. Respecting the privacy and confidentiality of clients is paramount. Any use of client information for educational or research purposes must be conducted ethically and with the utmost sensitivity.
Respecting session limits
Please be aware of and respect the session limits available for each client and work within these parameters. For more information on session limits, please read here.
By following these guidelines and sticking to evidence-based practices, you can provide the best possible care for your clients. Let's work together to build trust and achieve great outcomes for everyone we support.
