Supporting clients who need a different modality to your offering

Pete Pete

There may be instances when a practitioner deems that their approach is not suitable for a client. This may be the case if a client begins coaching and the coach believes they need therapy, or if a therapist is offering one type of therapy (e.g. CBT) but the client would benefit more from another (e.g. EMDR).

In such cases, you can suggest the client book in with another therapist or coach from the Unmind platform. It is important that you clearly explain why another approach or modality is advised and what to look for in choosing a new practitioner.

Practitioners cannot see a list of other practitioners to refer to at the moment, but you can contact support to discuss practitioner profiles or specific recommendations if helpful.

Unmind does not share any information directly between practitioners – clients or practitioners should do this directly themselves.

Clients can choose to change practitioners themselves if they decide they would prefer to see a different practitioner.

Clients can access both therapy and coaching. This can be done at the same time but we encourage clients to consider whether they have time and capacity to do this or if it is better done one at a time.

If you think that Unmind Talk is unsuitable for a client, or they come to the end of therapy/coaching and need additional support elsewhere, you should signpost or refer on to alternative services.
