Your profile is often the first introduction a client has to you on Unmind. Research shows that clients spend time carefully reviewing practitioner profiles before making a decision, so creating a profile that is clear, professional, and authentic can make a real difference.

Below are key recommendations, based on feedback from Unmind clients and best practices for practitioners.

Use an inviting, professional photo

A high-quality photo can be a deciding factor for clients choosing between practitioners. It’s the very first thing a client sees even before opening your profile and it helps reduce uncertainty or nerves about starting therapy or coaching.

The current requirements at Unmind for profile photos are:

  • Includes the practitioner’s head and shoulders only
  • Not a selfie
  • Face is clearly visible
  • Face is well-centred in the image (not cut off or too small to discern)
  • No sunglasses or headphones
  • Practitioner is dressed professionally
  • Professional and approachable (not overly casual)
  • No second person in the image
  • Background requirements:
    • Light in colour
    • Either plain or blurred
    • No people, no advertising
  • No text or logo
  • No advertising in the image
  • High resolution
  • Image is not distorted (e.g., stretched)
  • No filters or obvious editing
  • Not black & white

Highlight your areas of expertise

Clients want to clearly understand whether you can support their specific needs. While Unmind profiles allow you to select focus areas and approaches, expanding on these in your bio is very helpful.

Best practices:

  • Go beyond listing approaches (e.g., “CBT” or “mindset coaching”) and explain what they mean in everyday language.
  • Provide examples of how you work with clients in your focus areas.
  • Use inclusive, jargon-free wording so first-time clients feel comfortable.

This helps clients connect with your profile and builds confidence that you’re the right match.

Present comprehensive but clear information

Clients often view their choice of practitioner as an investment in a relationship. They want to know who you are, how you work, and what working with you might feel like.

When writing your profile:

  • Ensure your bio reflects your authentic style.
  • Include enough detail for clients to understand your approach without overwhelming them with information.
  • Aim for clarity, relevance, and a sense of your personality as a practitioner.

This allows clients to make an informed decision and helps them feel more confident about starting sessions with you.

Making updates to your profile

Profiles are reviewed before going live to ensure they meet Unmind’s standards and provide a cohesive, professional client experience. Once your profile is live, it becomes locked — but you can still request changes:

  • For small updates: Email support@unmind.comwith the change you’d like. Our team will review and update your profile for you.
  • For larger updates (e.g., a full rewrite): Email us to request access. We’ll temporarily hide and unlock your profile so you can make changes yourself. Once updated, our team will review it again before it goes live.

The process is quick and designed to support you in presenting the best version of your profile to clients.

The most important thing is that your profile reflects you, your style, your approach, and your personality. Use these insights as guidance, not rules. A strong photo, clear expertise, and authentic information can go a long way in helping clients feel reassured and confident when choosing to work with you.
